Islam & Tolerance Summit
The Islam and Tolerance Summit, initiated by the Afghanistan Economic & Legal Studies Organization (AELSO), organized in Bamyan province with the presence of Sunni and Shia scholars. In this summit, religious scholars called for and guided the respect for the beliefs of others, emphasizing that disrespect and violation of the sanctity of others’ views in the Islamic faith is not permissible according to the teachings of the Quran.
Speakers at the Islam and Tolerance Summit discussed about the role and importance of tolerance from an Islamic perspective. They spoke about promoting brotherhood, accepting diversity, mutual respect, human dignity, strengthening solidarity, and institutionalizing tolerance in society as the fundamental mission of Islamic scholars.
At the end of this summit, the book ” Why as a Muslim, I Defend Liberty” by Mustafa Akyol was presented to the religious scholars of Bamyan. The aim was to convey the valuable content of this book, which addresses tolerance and freedom from the perspective of the Quran and Islam, to society.
