The series of “Freedom and Economics Seminars” which is one of enormous programs of AELSO, was successfully organized by the Afghanistan Economic and Legal Studies Organization (AELSO) in cooperation with Jami University for half day in Herat province.

In this seminar, more than 200+ participants both male & female were participated and learned about important topics such as; freedom, economic development, and entrepreneurship as well as the compatibility of these values with the teachings of the holy religion of Islam.

Hanif Farzan, Chairman of AELSO, opened the seminar by providing a brief overview of AELSO’s vision and objective for spreading principles of freedom as well as methods young people can help AELSO with this cause in the present.

Following him, Dr. Atiqullah Rahimi, Vice Chancellor of Jami University, thanked AELSO for organizing such academic seminars for youth & university students and expressed his view about role of academic institutions in promoting ideas of freedom & bringing economic development in Afghanistan.

Dr. Khalid Sediqiyan, Lecturer of Jami University, talked about importance of youth’s participation in economic development of the country and said: “The only way to achieve economic development in national surface is to invest in building ideas of people from the society because it will lead country to the path of peace & prosperity.”

As another speaker, Nargis Hashimi, Head of Herat Women’s Chamber of Commerce, spoke about challenges & solutions toward women entrepreneurs in the country and said: “Women’s participation in the economic and entrepreneurship activities is very difficult for now because it requires different social & economic factors. But for solving this challenge in today’s conditions, organizing such seminars & programs can be so effective in motivating women to start again their entrepreneurial activities in order to play their role in the economic development process of the country.”

Continuing the program, Hameed Khesrawi, Jami University board member & lecturer, talked about “Ideas to Action” – how to change the entrepreneurship challenges into opportunities in Afghanistan and emphasized on some basic solutions for achieving remarkable results. He said: “By establishing a balance between theory and practice in university courses, we can dedicate professional entrepreneurs to the society and also use from entrepreneurial opportunities, effectively.”

In (Open Mic) section of the program, participants shared their views on freedom, economic development and entrepreneurship in Afghanistan and received answers to their questions from the experts of the program.

Shakiba Sediqi, a participant of “Freedom & Economics Seminar” in Herat province: “In my opinion, women’s participation in economic development & growth activities is an urgent need in current situation because it will provide different benefits such as; decreasing the level of poverty in the country, increasing the national income, helping women to achieve economic independence and finally leading country towards self-sufficiency & development.”

Farida Amiri, another participant of “Freedom & Economics Seminar” said: “In recent years, women had active & effective role in starting a business and doing small investments in Afghanistan. Also, Afghan women business companies had effective role in developing women’s economic situation and decreasing poverty in the society.”

As last speaker of the seminar, Abdul Qaher Beheshti, General Programs Director of AELSO, briefed his view and talked about the importance of entrepreneurship programs & activities for economic development in current situation at the country and concluded the seminar by emphasizing on important tips & topics for the participants.

The Freedom & Economics Seminar, ended by donating AELSO books to the authorities and the public library of Jami University, appreciating the seminar’s speakers and distributing certificates for the participants.
