Freedom & Economics Seminar | Balkh

The “Freedom & Economics Seminar” was successfully organized by the Afghanistan Economic and Legal Studies Organization (AELSO) in two different times separately with participation of both male & female participants with the cooperation of Nokhbagan Higher Education Institute for half day at Mazar-e-Sharif city of Balkh province.

In this seminar, 200+ participants were participated and learned about important topics such as; freedom, economic development, and entrepreneurship as well as the compatibility of these values with the teachings of the holy religion of Islam.

Hanif Farzan, Chairman of AELSO, inaugurated the seminar by presenting AELSO vision & mission and continued by thanking Balkh’s youth for their volunteer commitments and active participation in different initiatives and programs.

Following him, Dr. Seyed Jawed Najafizada, Chancellor of Nokhbagan Institute of Higher Education, talked about the role of academic institutions for promoting values of freedom and bringing positive changes in economic situation of Afghanistan and said: ” Academic institutions are the main places that can provide youth the opportunity to learn skills and form their ideas in order to use them for developing our country in any aspect in the future. Therefore, this is a very important and vital responsibility that all academic institutions should consider and try to equip youth with the most recent study materials.”

Abdul Qaher Beheshti, General Programs Director of AELSO, as another speaker of the seminar, spoke about the importance and role of entrepreneurs in achieving economic independence and economic development in our country.

Another speaker of the seminar, Shakiba Shakib, Head of the Balkh Women’s Chamber of Commerce, emphasized on importance of Afghan women participations in entrepreneurship activities, continued by talking about challenges that Afghan women entrepreneurs are facing with in current situation and provide them some basic solutions for overcoming to these challenges.

Continuing the seminar, other speakers namely; Wasiullah Safi, Mohammad Amin Bayani, and Fazluddin Qiam, Nokhbagan Institute of Higher Education officials, also talked about above mentioned values and emphasized on role of youth in achieving freedom, economic independence and eradicating poverty in the society.

In (Open mic) section of the program, participants shared their views on freedom, economic development and entrepreneurship in Afghanistan and received answers to their questions from the experts of the program.

Sayed Zekria Yousefi, participant of Freedom & Economics Seminar in Balkh province said: “In this challenging situation, conducting such capacity-building and motivational programs are very important & essential. Therefore, we appreciate and thank every action of the Afghanistan Economic and Legal Studies Organization (AELSO) for creating the opportunity to tackle with this problem and learn new topics and skills.”

Asma Karimi, another participant of Freedom & Economics Seminar in Balkh Province said: “In developing countries like Afghanistan, lack of job opportunities and unemployment are most challenging issues that for reducing these challenges, it is very important to invest in entrepreneurship activities of in a country. I personally think that it is very important that youth, as last hope of this country, should learn from these opportunities and try to use them for bringing a positive change to their own & our country’s people life.”

Haji Mohammad Khalilzad, Deputy Director of scientific affairs at Nokhbagan Institute of Higher Education, concluded the seminar with summarizing the key points for the participants.

The seminar ended by distributing certificates of participation to the participants along with brochures and stickers prepared by AELSO, and taking group photos.
