The Role of Women in Institutionalizing Social Justice
Social justice is sustainable when all sections of society, especially women, are actively involved in its formation and implementation. Women, as half of the population, play a pivotal role not only in the foundation of the family, but also in the fields of education, economy, politics and culture. Despite the Quranic and religious emphases on the equality of human dignity of men and women, as well as the emphasis of contemporary philosophers and sociologists on the importance of women’s presence, their capacities have not been fully realized in many societies. Using Islamic sources, political philosophy and sociology, this research examines the role of women in institutionalizing social justice and identifies cultural, legal, political and economic barriers by analyzing historical and contemporary examples. The results show that women have a multidimensional role in strengthening social justice; From raising a just generation in the family to participating in social and economic spheres. Educational empowerment, reforming discriminatory laws and increasing women’s participation in management and politics are also key factors in achieving sustainable social justice.
