YOUTH & ENLIGHTENMENT; The Causes and Consequences of Extremism in Afghanistan
The phenomenon of extremism has grown along with war and violence in Afghanistan and has rooted in the social and institutional structure of the country. The fight against this ugly phenomenon requires a proper understanding of its causes and consequences in the context of Afghanistan.
The Afghanistan Economic and Legal Studies Organization (AELSO) with the aim of academically and accurately explaining the causes and consequences of extremism in Afghanistan; conducted a field research on this topic through its research team led by Abdul Qaher Beheshti in 2020.
This research is a combined of both Library and field methods based on descriptive-analytical and explanatory-analytical approaches and is being conducted in eight major provinces of Afghanistan, including Kabul, Nangarhar, Paktia, Balkh, Herat, Badakhshan, Panjshir and Parwan, which are more exposed to extremist ideologies more than other provinces in the country.
The outcome of the mentioned study is based on the views of Afghan youths and country’s elites, and an academic and practical explanation of the causes and consequences of extremism in Afghanistan is being reflected in this book along with presenting practical solutions based on the research findings.
