Youth Symposium for Peace & Tolerance | Logar – Afghanistan
The Afghanistan Economic and Legal Studies Organization (AELSO) successfully organized youth’s symposium for peace and tolerance in Logar province with the direct help from information and culture directorate of Logar province as well as the youth’s council of the mentioned province. Rabia Stanikzai deputy governor, Abdul Rahman Tasal information and culture director, Sayed Qaribullah Sadat member of provincial council, Abdul Baqi Rashid head of Youth’s council and dozens of youths, students and tribal elders as well as religious scholars of Logar province participated in the event.
The participants discussed about peace, tolerance and other free society values and emphasized on the importance of promoting the culture of tolerance for ending the ongoing war and violence.
Abdul Rahman Tasal information and culture director of Logar province laid emphasis on the importance of conducting such programs for the intellectual growth of the youths and knowledge exchange. He said: “In this one day symposium, the participants can freely ask their questions regarding peace, tolerance and other free society values from the experts’ panel and I am sure that they will learn many new ideas and things. And this is the first kind of such academic programs which is being organized by AELSO in Logar province after 16 years.”
He stressed on the importance of organizing such symposiums and said: “Youth Symposium for peace and tolerance is one of the significant and effective programs being organized in many provinces of Afghanistan, and it is a very proud moment that the youth’s of Logar province are getting the exceptional chance of participating in one of them, and there is no doubt that Logar province residents’ particularly the youths will work more for promoting the culture of tolerance and fighting extremism as the direct result of participating in this symposium.
Continuing the program, Mr. Tasal, the information and culture director of Logar province said: “We are planning to conduct more such programs with the direct help of AELSO for the capacity building of local youths and promoting the culture of tolerance so that the Logar youths will get more opportunities to share their ideas, exchange views on various national issues with the experts, and contribute in ensuring sustainable peace in the country.”
Rabia Stanikzai deputy governor of Logar province shaded some lights on the value and usefulness of the youth’s symposium for peace and tolerance by saying: “We are really thankful to the AELSO and their partners for organizing such important event in Logar, and we will keep supporting Logar youths in promoting such programs and advancing the culture of peace, tolerance and free society values in every corner of the province”.
In addition, Wahidullah Rashid; our provincial fellow in Logar province spoke to the audience about the main motives behind conducting such symposium and AELSO’s other awareness programs in Logar province. He said: “The honor of organizing this event goes to each and every youth of the Logar province and we are hopeful that the youths will directly contribute in organizing such events in the future as well so we will have upper hand in promoting the culture of tolerance, freedom, human rights and other free society values to the each and every district and village of the province.”
In the experts panel of the symposium, Qaribullah Sadat; member of provincial council, Abdul Baqi Rashid; head of youths council of Logar province, Sayed Hashmat Vijdani; university lecturer, and Lutfullah Logar province representative to the youths parliament talked about peace and tolerance values as well as ways to oppose extremism in the province, and answered participants questions in the Q&A part of the program.
Youth symposium for peace and tolerance – Logar province has been concluded with distributing participation certificates to the participants, networking of the participants and praying for a peaceful, free and developed Afghanistan. It also worth’s mentioning that every participants of the symposiums have received two credits of AELSO academy that after completing all 21 credits of the academy, the fellow will be eligible for receiving graduation certificate from AELSO academy which is of high academic value.
Although this event was not in the annual plan of Liberty Club and AELSO Academy project but due to continues request made by our previous participants particularly those who participated in our previously held events in Kabul province. It was an honor for the AELSO team to launch this program which was unique of its kind in the last 16 years in Logar province by direct contributions of a number of deeply committed youths and with very limited resources.
