
Mechanization of Agriculture and Afghanistan’s Economic Growth
The Afghanistan Economic and Legal Studies Organization (AELSO), in collaboration with Altaqwa University, successfully organized the Nangarhar Economic Debate on February 25, 2025. This event brought together experts, university professors, students, and key stakeholders to discuss the theme: “Mechanization of Agriculture in Nangarhar: A Fast Track to Afghanistan’s Economic Growth and Sustainable Development.”
The debate aimed to foster intellectual discourse, encourage scientific inquiry, and provide a platform for exchanging ideas on economic advancements in Afghanistan. Abdul Musawer Barekzai, an economics lecturer at Altaqwa University, emphasized the transformative impact of mechanization: “Agricultural mechanization is not just about machines; it’s about revolutionizing the way we cultivate, harvest, and market our produce to ensure long-term economic stability.”
Mohammad Akram Naseri, an agricultural expert, stressed the importance of local capacity building: “Mechanization must go hand in hand with education and training programs to empower farmers with the skills needed to operate and maintain modern equipment effectively.”
