On February 24, 2025, an entrepreneurship seminar was held at Tabesh University in Nangarhar province, bringing together university professors, economic experts, AELSO’s team members, young entrepreneurs, and university students. This event, part of a series of academic seminars on entrepreneurship, economic development, prosperity, and poverty reduction in Afghanistan, was organized by AELSO with the aim of exploring new entrepreneurial opportunities and strengthening the role of universities and young people in the country’s economic growth.

The speakers discussed the role of universities in fostering entrepreneurship, the importance of universities as hubs for nurturing an entrepreneurial generation, and the significance of investment in various productive sectors of the country. Additionally, topics such as the entrepreneurship requirments, the necessity of research for identifying market opportunities, and sustainable business models were addressed. Experts and mentors also examined the current challenges in entrepreneurship and explored potential solutions.

The seminar provided a valuable platform for participants to exchange views on existing challenges and opportunities in the entrepreneurial market. Many attendees emphasized the need to develop domestic industries and reduce dependency on imports. Specific sectors, such as packaging production and the processing of agricultural products—including orange juice and marmalade—were highlighted as promising investment opportunities in Nangarhar.

During the discussion session, participants had the opportunity to share their perspectives on entrepreneurship in Nangarhar. In this regard, Noorullah Danish stated:

“There are entrepreneurial opportunities in the field of packaging production in Nangarhar. If attention is given to this sector, we will no longer need to rely on foreign imports in this area.”

Similarly, Mohammad Dawood Momand remarked:

“In the field of orange juice and marmalade production, there are excellent entrepreneurial opportunities in Nangarhar province. By investing in this sector, we can contribute significantly to economic growth and job creation.”
