Innovation and Digitalization: The Key to Entrepreneurial Success in Kabul

The Entrepreneurship Seminar, initiated by the Afghanistan Economic and Legal Studies Institute (AELSO) and in collaboration with the Sharq Institute of Higher Education, was held in Kabul with the participation of students, young entrepreneurs, and university professors. This program, considered part of a series of scholarly seminars on entrepreneurship, economic development, Prosperity, and poverty reduction in Afghanistan, was launched by AELSO with the aim of exploring new entrepreneurial horizons and strengthening the role of universities and the younger generation in the country’s economic growth.

Speakers at the seminar examined the role of universities in fostering entrepreneurship and nurturing an innovative generation, emphasizing the importance of investing in various productive sectors of the country. Subsequently, discussions addressed essential requirements for entrepreneurship, the necessity of market-driven research to identify economic opportunities, and the development of sustainable business models. Experts and trainers also analyzed the challenges along the entrepreneurial path and provided practical solutions to overcome them.

The seminar also served as a platform for participants to exchange views on the opportunities and obstacles present in the entrepreneurial ecosystem. Many attendees stressed the need to strengthen domestic industries and reduce dependence on imports. In addition, some participants proposed the creation of specialized educational platforms and the digitalization of services as promising investment opportunities in Kabul.

During the open dialogue session, participants shared their perspectives on entrepreneurial opportunities in Kabul. In this context, Asmatullah Riyazat remarked, “Online education and the development of specialized digital platforms can be among the most lucrative opportunities in Kabul.”

Similarly, Seyed Ashraf Seyedi stated, “Digitalizing services and providing products through technological solutions not only can increase entrepreneurial opportunities but also save citizens’ time and reduce congestion in traditional markets.”

By focusing on the opportunities and challenges of entrepreneurship in Afghanistan, this seminar created a space for the exchange of knowledge and ideas among academics, economic institutions, and young entrepreneurs. The outcomes of this program demonstrated that fostering interaction among these sectors can contribute to economic growth and poverty reduction. The active participation of students, professors, and entrepreneurs in this event marks an important step towards the development of the entrepreneurial ecosystem in Kabul and across Afghanistan.
