9th International Islam and Liberty Conference
9th International Conference of Islam & Liberty Network (ILN) was held on 27-28 October 2022 in the historic South-eastern city of Mardin, Turkiye. The conference was hosted by Mardin Artuklu University in coordination with Association for Liberal Thinking (by Mrs. Ozlem Caglar Yilmaz), Acton Institute, ATLAS Network and Network for a Free Society.
The main theme of this conference was “The Future of Democracy, Pluralism, Peace and Development in Muslim-majority nations” within the context of Muslim majority societies. Scholars and think tanks from countries such Afghanistan, Pakistan, Bangladesh, India, Malaysia, Indonesia, UK, US and Turkey attended the two-day discussions.
During the conference, speakers delivered their speeches on below topics:
Historical and Economical Analysis of Islamic Civilization, Islam and Pluralism, Islamic Ethics towards Refugees, Development and Economic Freedom, Liberty and Tolerance in Islam, The movement of Religious Moderation in Indonesia, The Role of Hujra and Jirga in Post- Conflict Peacebuilding in valley Swat Pakistan.
AELSO’s representative Mr. Mohammad Abul Ahrar Ramizpoor also presented his speech on the Social Economic Situation under the Taliban de facto regime.
Ms. Manizha Ramizy; human rights advocate and lecturer of Kabul University also presented her speech on women rights and academic situation under the de facto regime.
ILN’s executive director Mr. Ali Salman, expressed his interest and further engagement on promotion of liberty, and market economy in light of Islamic studies through collaboration of AELSO in Afghanistan.
