The series of Freedom & Economics Seminars organized by the Afghanistan Economic & Legal Studies Organization (AELSO) in collaboration with Fajrestan Higher Education Institute on the important topics such as; freedom, economic development, entrepreneurship and prosperity with the participation of university professors, experts, students and youth at Taloqan city of Takhar province.
In this seminar, participants discussed and exchanged their ideas on different issues such as; freedom, economic development, role of freedom of expression in economic development, entrepreneurial challenges & opportunities in Afghanistan and practical strategies for solving economic challenges in the country.

Mohammad Hanif Farzan, Chairman of AELSO, talked about the mission & vision of The Afghanistan Economic and Legal Studies Organization (AELSO) and said: “Effective steps towards development are implemented by three fundamental sides. AELSO In its strategic vision, intends to organize the National Entrepreneurship Camp for Afghan youth and with the aim of economic development, employment and entrepreneurship so that youth from different provinces learn the commercialization and application of projects using the useful advice of experts. AELSO welcomes & supports youth’s initiatives and plans for advancing peaceful and prosperous Afghanistan.”

Mohammad Hashem Farnod, Chancellor of The Fajrestan Higher Education Institute, talked about the role of universities in promoting the components of freedom and economic development, and added: “Universities are the fundamental source for the production and growth of developing ideas, which, with the development of human resources, play their part in economic development. Human resource who are experts, entrepreneurs, and creative will play an important role in growth & development of a country, especially in economic part. So, for raising such productive human source, we need to educate them well which in this regard, universities play fundamental role.”

Nasir Ahmad Qurbani, Dean of Law & Political science faculty of Fajrestan Higher Education Institute, talked about role of freedom of speech in economic development: “Effective organizations refer to those that have more information. Media as a timely information reference plays a fundamental role in economic and social development. Freedom of speech & media is an important and significant principle in pluralistic systems. This conclusion is drawn from the experiences of human societies in which they value freedom of expression and consider it valid and respected as a natural right of a free human being. Freedom of expression has played a significant role in the development of creativity, economics, and the growth of human talents in developed societies.”

Khesraw Jahesh, Professor at Economic faculty of Fajrestan Higher Education Institute, talked about challenges & opportunities of entrepreneurship in Afghanistan and said: “In the current situation, economic problems and poverty have put about 89% of the Afghans under pressure. In this regard, to get out of the current situation and move towards a favorable economic situation, it is necessary to identify creative entrepreneurs and take practical and effective steps towards economic development.”

In (Open Mike) section of the program, participants shared their views on freedom, economic development and entrepreneurship in Afghanistan and received answers to their questions from the experts of the program.

Ali Ahmad, participant of Freedom & Economics Seminar in Takhar province, said: “In the current situation of Afghanistan, conducting such programs is ultimately motivating and decisive for keeping alive this believe in youth that in any situation they can strive for freedom and achieve economic and social development. I also thank AELSO for the National Entrepreneurship Camp initiative which helps youth to implement their projects and play their role in economic development of the country.”

Abdul Qaher Beheshti, the General Programs Director of AELSO, in conclusion part of the program said: “Today’s program is an introduction of our upcoming nationwide events. In this series of seminars, efforts are made to teach youth and students of universities the basics of freedom, economic development, prosperity and entrepreneurship. Development does not have a specific limit, but because of its dependence on humans, it is a qualitative phenomenon and has no limitations. Economic development has two main objectives: 1. Increasing the wealth and peaceful life of the people of society and reducing poverty 2. Creating employment opportunities. Each of these goals is in line with social justice. The view of economic development are different in developed and undeveloped countries. In developed countries, the main goal is to increase people’s prosperity and facilities, but in third world countries, poverty reduction and social justice are considered more.”

The Freedom & Economics Seminar, ended by distributing certificates for the participants and taking group photos.
