Balkh Economic Debate Was Held
The Afghanistan Economic and Legal Studies Institute (AELSO), in cooperation with the Nokhbagan University, organized the Balkh Economic Debate. This debate aimed to exchange ideas, foster critical thinking, strengthen the culture of dialogue, expand scientific methods, and deepen awareness and understanding of the impact of globalization on Afghanistan’s economy, with the presence of experts, university professors, youth, and students.
The debaters first examined the concept of globalization and referred to it as a very important phenomenon with wide ranging consequences in various dimensions, the most significant of which is economic. They believe that societies should leverage the opportunities presented by globalization for their benefit, based on a thorough understanding of the concept, and utilize effective and purposeful planning to address its challenges.
According to the experts present at the Balkh Economic Debate, globalization significantly impacts various aspects of people’s lives, and Afghanistan is also affected by this phenomenon to some extent. To avoid falling behind in global competition and addressing the challenges of the global economy, Afghanistan should focus on its advantages and strive to foster cooperation.
The debaters regard the impact of globalization on Afghanistan’s economy as a critical issue, asserting that if Afghanistan capitalizes on the opportunities globalization offers particularly in attracting investments by creating favorable and secure conditions it can achieve significant successes in the economic sector, considering its geographical position in Asia, and emerge as one of the most influential economic crossroads.
On the other hand, the participants emphasized that globalization impacts Afghanistan’s economy in several dimensions, stressing the importance of utilizing the opportunities available in the globalization process for the economic development of Afghanistan and creating suitable frameworks for attracting foreign investments.
At the conclusion of the debate, it was emphasized that, acknowledging the inevitability of globalization entering human societies and influencing all facets of life, developing countries, including Afghanistan, should approach this process with comprehensive awareness, precise knowledge, systematic cultural and economic planning, and the formulation of overarching economic strategies while strengthening international cooperation. This will enable them to manage the crises arising from globalization and carve out a suitable position in the ranks of developed societies.
The Balkh Economic Debate provided an excellent opportunity to introduce the concept of globalization, its impact on the Afghan economy, how to identify opportunities and challenges within this process, and how to capitalize on opportunities while addressing challenges. It also offered valuable insights for a deeper understanding of this phenomenon.
The Afghanistan Economic and Legal Studies Institute expresses its gratitude to all participants, especially the Nokhbagan University, for organizing this debate and emphasizes its commitment to continuing this initiative.
