Two decades of women’s dynamism in education in Afghanistan

Achieving higher education and having high scientific skills is one of the most key factors in the development of individual and group abilities and capacities. The changes and transformations in the ways of life and the change of the world paradigm from the industrial society to the information society have made higher education necessary to achieve good jobs, to acquire a privileged identity and a high social character. One of the most important criteria for measuring the degree of development of a country is the importance, knowledge and credit that women have in that country. Education of women is the best way to develop their health, growth and improvement of their cultural-economic status. Education, especially university education, is one of the important factors for the development of any country and is considered part of the basic rights of humans.

Educating women can be one of the most effective ways to eliminate discrimination and gender inequality. Because when women have education, skills and abilities to be present in society, they can fight against political, economic, social, gender and educational inequalities in their societies and lives.

Women’s education in Afghanistan has been one of the most important and challenging issues in many cases because many factors have limited and denied women the right to education. But despite all the restrictions, in the last twenty years, a suitable and brilliant field for women’s education had been created, but suddenly, with the change in the political climate, these fields were limited and the educational space for women was placed in an aura of uncertainty. In this article, the history of the state of women’s education and education, the state of women’s education in the past twenty years, its challenges and solutions have been focused on in order to open up more discussion in this field.
